Join the scientists
improving how science is published.
Submedit is built on a simple premise: the scientific record improves when manuscripts enter peer review in the best possible condition. We are looking for researchers who believe this too — and who have the expertise to act on it.
Editors who think like reviewers.
A PhD is strongly preferred. We work with researchers at the doctoral or postdoctoral level with demonstrated expertise in their sub-field.
You are, or have recently been, an active researcher — with first- or corresponding-author publications in peer-reviewed journals. You understand what a reviewer looks for because you have been one.
You approach citation claims the way a careful reviewer would: you retrieve the source, read it against the specific assertion, and flag the gap when they do not align. You find this natural, not laborious.
You can identify not only grammatical issues but structural and argumentative weaknesses in a manuscript — where the scientific reasoning loses momentum, where a transition fails, where the central claim is not made unmissable.
Expert review, augmented by precision tools.
Before you open the manuscript, our proprietary AI framework has already processed the full text — indexing every citation, numerical value, figure reference, and linguistic pattern. You receive a structured, prioritised verification report that tells you precisely where expert judgment is needed, and why.
You review the manuscript in your specific sub-field — verifying citation validity against the verification map, assessing narrative flow, and evaluating the manuscript through the lens of a rigorous peer reviewer. Your expertise is applied to a targeted set of verified issues, not to an unsorted sequential reading.
Every language revision is delivered as a tracked change with an explanatory comment. Every citation flag includes the precise validity failure identified and the correction required. For Platinum manuscripts, a structured editorial memo accompanies the marked-up file.
Work that matters. On your terms.
A well-prepared manuscript reaches peer review in a condition where the reviewer encounters nothing but the science. The work you do directly affects whether important findings make it into the record.
All editorial work is performed remotely. You set your own availability, accepting manuscripts that fit your schedule and expertise. There is no minimum commitment requirement.
Submedit was founded by an active scientist who experienced the problem firsthand. Every member of the editorial team shares the conviction that how science is communicated shapes what the field believes — and that this matters.
Editors are compensated per manuscript at rates commensurate with the level of expert judgment required. Platinum and Express manuscripts carry premium rates.
Always accepting applications.
